FIVE DAYS IN IRELAND

A bunch of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English, French and American fiction writers, editors, and agents descended upon the town of Cork for five days during the annual Frank O'Connor Short Story Festival in a big group huddle at Hotel Isaacs, Triskel Arts Center, and The Long Valley, a famous literary pub downtown. Clockwise from far left: Declan Meade (editor, Stinging Fly), Julien Campredon (Brulons Tous Ces Punks), Adam Marek (Instructions Manual for Swallowing); Carys Davies (Some New Ambush), Wena Poon (Lions In Winter), Vanessa Gebbie (Words from a Glass Bubble); Alison Macleod (Fifteen Modern Tales of Attraction), Simon Robson (The Separate Heart). Says Wena Poon, "If you want to know what it's like to be at the Cannes of the Short Story, come next year."
